Peaceful demonstrations and lawful, legitimate protests are entirely acceptable. What is unacceptable is a premeditated attempt by a group of anonymous individuals, funded by subversive elements, to destabilize the country and incite violence and chaos.
This is the true nature of the so-called #nationwidestrike, which they have labeled as the #endbadgovernanceprotest. Even more concerning is the covert attempt to provoke the security forces into mutiny and rebellion against the established authorities, thereby threatening our democracy.
Those behind it are trying to exploit the significant economic challenges in the country to create panic, fear, chaos, and mass unrest, aiming to provoke anarchy, mayhem, and armed insurrection.
This is unacceptable, and no responsible government will sit idly by and allow it to happen. I urge those orchestrating this covert, sinister plot to reconsider and avoid triggering a response from the security forces that they will later regret. We do not want or need another round of nationwide #EndSARS-like protests, nor can we afford the accompanying violence, strife, division, property damage, and bloodshed.
The path forward is to cancel the protest, exercise patience, engage in dialogue with the Federal Government, and express our collective concerns in a lawful, restrained, responsible, and legitimate manner. Anything beyond this approach will be dangerous and counterproductive. Femi Fani-Kayode warns.
