Nigeria, making history as the first African team to advance to the knockout stages of the Olympic basketball event, faced the defending champions on Wednesday. Despite their historic achievement, Team USA proved too dominant, maintaining their perfect record against D’Tigress with a 74-88 victory. D’Tigress’ former guard, Dangosu, told Brila.net that Nigeria struggled to keep up with their more experienced opponents, giving them too much time with the ball.
“Nigeria's impressive run in the women’s basketball tournament at Paris 2024 has been marked by solid defense. However, we only showed defensive aggression and failed to translate that into effective offense,” said Dangosu. “Additionally, Team USA’s deeper bench and the experience and size of their players played a crucial role in their victory.”
