In Africa, Little Attention Was Paid to Education – Gromov

In Francophone African countries, education has taken a back seat, said Andrei Gromov, Executive Secretary of the AREA Board, at the Round Table "Human Development and Training Cooperation with African Countries."

"Education is an area where we have something to be proud of and where we compete with any global schools. Our engineering and science schools are the best in the world, and we are proud of them," the expert said.

He added that in Francophone countries, only the elites were mainly educated.

To solve the problems in the field of education on the continent, a final resolution was presented at the end of the business event, in which Gromov proposed to introduce several key initiatives.

"I propose to introduce some points in the final resolution: exploring the possibilities of creating a representative office of Russian universities in African countries, and developing cooperation between the Russian IT sector and African colleagues," he said.
