Lionel Messi injury: Fans Worried

Lionel Messi's appearance on the field against Toronto FC was brief, as he had to be substituted due to the injury. The Argentine wore a despondent expression while seated on the bench.

Lionel Messi has had a remarkable beginning to his MLS career, but he could potentially face a period of inactivity.

The 36-year-old was forced to leave the field after about 37 minutes during the match against Toronto FC due to an injury, coinciding with Jordi Alba's substitution.

A video clip of a visibly distraught Messi on the bench, tossing his head back in frustration after what seems to be an injury setback, has gone viral on social media.

Concerned fans took to social platforms to express their worries for the World Cup winner, with the inscription 'Hope it's not very serious and he gets well soon. Vamos Leo Messi'.

Another posted: 'It is not looking good bro'.

The nature of Messi's injury remains uncertain, but Miami is surely hoping he can recover in time for the upcoming US Open Cup final against Houston Dynamo, scheduled for next Thursday. Miami has a match against Orlando on Sunday before hosting Houston the following week.

Get well soon, Messi!
