"Rivers State Government Refutes Claims of N80,000 Minimum Wage Approval"

The Rivers State Government refuted claims that it has endorsed N80,000 as the revised minimum wage for civil servants within the state. Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, conveyed the denial in an official statement. The government categorically dismissed the assertions as inaccurate and deceptive.

The statement clarified that the government's intention was to rectify any misunderstandings, particularly among civil servants, and advised the public to ignore the inaccurate information circulating on an online media platform. He further mentioned that the Rivers State Government will formally announce its stance on the matter at the appropriate time.

This follows the recent agreement between the Federal Government and organized labour on a new national minimum wage of N70,000, reached after extended negotiations.
