12 die, six injured in Kogi auto crash

Twelve people were yesterday confirmed dead and six others injured in a road traffic accident that occurred along Obajana-Lokoja Expressway. 

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed the deathtoll in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Bisi Kazeem.

The accident which occurred around 10:30pm on Sunday at Line 3, Obajana Cement Factory, involved a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number MKA515ZD and a Sono Truck.

According to Kazeem, the cause of the fatal crash was speed limit violation, which led to loss of control.

Quoting the Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu, Kazeem said motorists including fleet, commercial and private operators must adhere to stipulated speed limits on all roads in order to eradicate all incidences of mishap resulting from speed violation.
