Abia State to Implement ₦70,000 Minimum Wage Starting October 2024

The Abia State Government will start paying a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 from October 2024, as announced by Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu. Governor Alex Otti's administration made this decision to improve workers' welfare. The wage increase applies to all workers in the state, following federal-level negotiations with labor unions.

Kanu also revealed plans for major infrastructure projects, including constructing modern court halls in all 17 Local Government Areas and a 19.4 km road in Isiala Ngwa North and South. Additionally, Abia State ranked first in recent NECO results, reflecting ongoing educational reforms.
