The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Anambra has ordered all doctors in the state to stop providing services in both public and private hospitals, starting Thursday night. This directive, announced by NMA Anambra’s chairman and secretary, Princeston Okam and Ifeanyi Obiaeli, follows the kidnapping of their colleague, Stephen Ezeh, who has been held captive since August 15. Despite giving a 48-hour ultimatum on August 19, Ezeh remains in captivity. The NMA has called on the Anambra government to ensure Ezeh’s immediate and unconditional release. The association has also warned that hospitals not complying with the strike will face penalties.
