The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has reiterated the church’s stance on holiness as a prerequisite for making heaven.
Kumuyi spoke against the backdrop of the church’s celebration of its 50th anniversary with a global service at its headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos State.
The church started on August 3, 1973 with a bible study of 15 members at Kumuyi’s official home in Flat 2, Faculty of Education Campus, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Yaba, Lagos.
But the figure has risen to about 5.3 million members in 150 countries.
The anniversary celebration, with the theme: God’s Faithfulness, encompassed the best of music with instrumental accomplishments from children, youths, and adult choirs of the church.
There were goodwill messages from various sections of the church, including children, youth, campus, young adults, women, and men.
The event also featured the launch of a book, titled: Deeper Life: The Pursuit of Heaven’s Goal; and a promo for the first Deeper Life Study Bible in collaboration with the Bible Society of Nigeria.
Also, there was the official unveiling of the Deeper Life @ 50 logo and documentaries on how the church started.
Kumuyi thanked God for the uniqueness of the church, which he said has stood for the holiness without shifting ground, despite every challenge that would have made the fold to compromise.
“We give glory to God for upholding us. We are resolute and believe that the good Lord who has upheld us for 50 years would continue to keep us standing,” he said.
Kumuyi urged pastors in the church and every member to keep on standing for holiness and all the biblical doctrines, such as salvation, sanctification, and Holy Ghost baptism.
The cleric said Deeper Life must wax stronger in marching forward with the great commission, sanctification, and submission to the will of God.
In his anniversary message, titled: Marching Forward With Fresh Vision Into the Future Destiny, Kumuyi assured the church members that as Joshua in the Bible was encouraged not to be afraid after taking over from Moses, so would the church be marching forward without getting tired.
