"Edo State Assembly Aide, Samson Omoarebokhae Killed Weeks Before Elections"

Samson Omoarebokhae, identified as a Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State House of Assembly Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, was killed by gunmen. This incident occurred just weeks before the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024. However, it is not clear if the killing is connected to the upcoming elections.

According to a statement from Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media, Omoarebokhae was killed on August 31 while traveling from Ozalla to Uhumora in Owan West Local Government Area. Following the incident, a delegation from the Speaker's office was sent to offer condolences to the deceased's family.

The Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Odion Iruobe, who led the delegation, described Omoarebokhae’s death as a significant loss to the Assembly, the PDP, and the community of Owan West Local Government. Iruobe expressed prayers for the family to find peace and strength during this difficult time.

The family of the deceased, represented by his brother Elijah Omoarebokhai, expressed gratitude to the Speaker for the visit and support during their period of grief. Meanwhile, Edo State police spokesperson Chidi Nwabuzor could not confirm details of the incident as he was not available at the time of the report.
