The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested billionaire Hyginus Nkwocha in Abuja for alleged internet fraud and money laundering. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale announced the arrest on Thursday, stating that Nkwocha, 35, was taken into custody at Ever Green Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, based on intelligence reports.
Items seized from Nkwocha include $2,200 in cash, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, a MacBook, various pieces of gold jewelry, a Mercedes Benz ML 350, a Chevrolet Camaro, and a Mustang.
Additionally, several properties were confiscated, including ones at Cookies Court 2 in Ocean Palm Estate, Ajah, Lagos; Unit C8, Lugbe Airport Road, Abuja; and Cookies Court 2, 2nd Avenue, Ocean Palm Estate, Ogombo, Lagos.
Oyewale mentioned that the investigation is still ongoing and that Nkwocha will be charged in court once it is concluded.
