The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that an explosion occurred at the Action People’s Party (APP) office in Port Harcourt early Monday morning. A bomb disposal unit was been sent to the scene to evaluate the damage, investigate the cause, and determine the type of explosive used.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident stating, “Yes, the command confirms the event. It occurred early this morning. Our bomb disposal unit has been deployed to the party office to find out what happened, and an investigation is underway.”
The blast, which happened around 1 a.m. at the APP office on Tombia Road in GRA, Port Harcourt, caused significant damage, including shattered doors, windows, and other property. This explosion comes amid rumors that Governor Siminalayi Fubara might be considering aligning with the APP, given that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, is rumored to have taken control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Sunny Wokekoro, the APP State Chairman, also verified the explosion and noted he was evaluating the damage before speaking to the press. The police have promised a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
